Regional Physical Culture and Sports Public Organization “Parkour Federation” was created by a group of like-minded people headed by Oleg Krasnyansky – the founder of the parkour movement in Russia, in cooperation with David Belle – the founder of world parkour. They were the originators of the first Russian parkour team Tracers in 2002, which became famous all over the world thanks to its large-scale festivals and movies, which set the bar for the world community in the development of parkour.
David Belle is the first person who showed the possibilities of parkour and its incredible possibilities for the development of the human body in the movies “13 District”, “13 District: Ultimatum”, “Brick Mansions”, where he played the main role and performed all the stunts as it is – without wires, special equipment or the help of stuntmen.
Speech by David Belle at the urban forum “Moscow 2030”
David Belle:
“Since the very beginning of parkour development in Russia, I have been impressed by the work your guys are doing. Today I am back in Moscow and I am happy to associate myself with the projects we have planned together. I love Russia, I admire how much your country has given to the world in culture, art and sports, and I support Russia in all its endeavors and in the path you have chosen for yourselves and your development.
Moscow is a wonderful city. And I am sure that we will hold many more wonderful events both in Moscow and throughout Russia.”
(from a speech in Luzhniki: August 28, 2024)
We, the team of the Russian Federation of Parkour, welcome any sport that helps to develop physically and spiritually. And we respect any discipline that helps young people to realise their potential. Parkour is not only physical culture, but also discipline and moral principles for the formation of a complete personality.
Parkour and its motto “There are no limits – there are only obstacles” are based on the human desire to overcome difficulties, both in sport and in life.
Our team wants the youth of our country to initially form their worldview on the basis of several principles that we found in parkour. This is STRENGTH, but not only of muscles, this is SPEED, but not only in running, this is OVERCOMING OBSTACLES, but not only in sport.
We have tried to summarise all the goals and objectives that we set for ourselves in a small appeal to the youth of our country going forward:
Today, the world is experiencing unprecedented upheavals and humanity needs new reference points.
The Wall, which once divided Berlin into two parts, today divides the whole of humanity in the same way.
We want to break through this Wall through sport and culture, turning the people of the West and the East towards each other.
Parkour, the epitome of movement and overcoming, will help to unlock the potential of our youth and become a tool to overcome the Wall on the way to unite countries and peoples in their desire to live in peace and harmony.

“Le parcours du combattant” (french) – military obstacle course.
The founder of the world parkour David Belle took as a basis the word for military obstacle course, which led in English transcription to the word “parkour”, which became the international name of the new sport discipline.

The basic principle of parkour is to move efficiently in space.
To move efficiently, an athlete needs to be able to read their surroundings and find the quickest and easiest way from point A to point B by applying their body skills and parkour techniques.
